Students will be able to correctly identify 100% of the units used in the metric system. They will accurately identify the correct tool used to measure length, mass, volume, and time and perform measurements on objects with 100% accuracy.
Key Vocabulary: Length, mass, density, time, volume, meter, kilogram, liter, second.
Today we will begin by going over your homework in the workbook. We will then do a quick warm up activity where you will be asked to write down your height with out using numbers. Everyone will then share their answer. This will demonstrate the importance of having a universial measurement system. Be sure to bring your text book as we will do a read-a-loud from page 12 to get a better understanding of the metric system. We will have some breif notes so that I can assess your previous metric system knowledge. We will then start a lab that we will finish next class. (Monday)

- Describe the meaning of “Nature of Science” and create an experiment plan using the scientific method.
Key Vocabulary: Scientific method, hypothesis, control, variable.

Today in class we will learn about problem solving using the scientific method. We will begin with the routine warm up question. You will be asked to share a decision that you have made during the day and describe how you solved that problem. We will relate this to the scientific method and then you will work in groups to complete a thumb wrestling lab that used the scientific method. We will also go over the cornell notes to make sure you all know how to do them.
